With National Trust Cottages Scotland Is A Great Destination

It is a wonderful place to visit anyway but with National Trust cottages Scotland really comes into its own.

You can make the most of your stay by taking a holiday in a lighthouse, a modernised croft or any one of the other National Trust properties across the country.

With such a wide choice of accommodation types in different place perhaps the best way to help you decide which one is best is to look at what each region of Scotland offers.

The Highlands

This is the most remote part of the country.

You can fairly easily find peace and quiet as well as enchanting villages and towns.

Distances are comparatively big here and having your own transport is a good move if you plan on exploring a lot.

It is also typically the coldest of the regions and taking some heavy clothing is not a bad idea at all.

Places you can visit here include the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness and some of the area’s many unique islands.

Glasgow and Argyll

The Mull of Kintyre is probably the most well known holiday spot here, and you will soon find out what it was that inspired Sir Paul McCartney so much.

Culzean Castle is a big tourist attraction which is close to a few of the National Trust cottages in this area.

Other than that, spectacular views, great sea food and comfortable cottages are what you can expect to find.

Dumfries and Galloway

The South West part of Scotland is hugely under-rated and has everything which most of us need for a fine holiday.

The area is peppered with lovely villages and some great towns such as the food haven of Castle Douglas, the difficult to pronounce Kirkcudbright and the peaceful Gatehouse of Fleet.

It is an ideal place for making day trips and discovering the rich and distinct characters of the different places here.

There are also lots of great events held here, especially in the summer[1].

Edinburgh and The Lothians

You might be surprised to find some of the best National Trust cottages Scotland offers in the capital.

The setting may be a lot more urban than in many other places but a top trip is equally likely.

The UK has few cities which are as pretty or as welcoming as Auld Reekie, and if you love culture and good food then this is somewhere worth looking at.
