Last Minute Holidays

Last Minute Holidays
There are so many deals out there that it’s hard to know where to start.

Should you book well in advance, as some people would advocate, or can you really get great bargains with last minute holidays?

We have quite a few posts on TC Holidays about last minute vacations, so I’m not really going to get too deep into the whole thing here, suffice to give you a couple of reasons to book those last minute deals and a couple of reasons to stay clear of them altogether.

Definition of last Minute Holidays

The strictest definition of a last minute holiday is either a holiday that you have decided to book at the last minute, perhaps you have some unexpected time off work or some extra money to spend, or it is a holiday that is offered by a company, either online or on the high street, at a discounted price either to fill a cancelled vacation, or a vacation that was not sold in the first place, empty hotel rooms or plane seats…whatever.

Also, the strictest definition of last minute is right before the deadline, due date, scheduled event, concluding moments, etc, most holiday companies sell their holidays off well before the actual ‘last minute’.

Why Should You Book Last Minute Holidays?

The simplest answer to this is to save money.

If you have flexibility in your destination, flexibility in your timings, and you don’t really mind where you stay, it is very simple to find late travel deals.

If you’re willing to pack a bag and head to the airport the next day, or even within a few hours, you are going to find some real cut priced vacations.

Treat it like an adventure, a spur of the moment thing, a bit like opening up a map of the world, taking a pin and sticking it into the map with your eyes closed, you don’t know where you’re going to land.

A great idea for the scatter brained are the all-inclusive last minute options because everything will be in place, you won’t have to go rushing about in frantic lunacy trying to piece all the elements together, only to worry about missing something important, or even worse…actually missing something important.

All Last Minute Holidays Are Not Created Equal

Besides the fact that you are not going to be able to avail of some last minute offerings due to visa restrictions etc., there are also a few reasons to avoid certain last minute deals altogether.

Check everything before you book, it’s not going to take too much research, but you may end up with something you didn’t want or even worse…a holiday of a lifetime from hell.

Make a list of the various factors, overall resort or destination, hotel, airline, or car rental company etc.

Then spend a little time on the internet checking out each one individually.

Look at their websites, any forum postings about them, and especially at any independent reviews you can find…use quote marks in your search to refine what results are shown…”your hotel review”, “your hotel forum”…replacing “your hotel” with the actual name of your hotel, resort etc.

It’s better to spend an hour or two on some gentle research before you part with your money than trying squeeze blood out of a stone in order to get a refund afterwards.

What’s the Best?

To sum up, flexibility is your best option…and maybe a touch of daring.

Don’t rush into the first good deal you find, a better one could be around the corner, take your time, weigh your options, do your research, make your choice.

Think about the all-inclusive options, they could save you a lot of time and money.
