Holiday Hypermarket Exchange Rate

We were dubious about this one, I’ve heard about Thomas Cook doing currency exchanges and a couple of the other larger travel agents but holiday hypermarket exchange rates is a new one on me.

So, we decided to have a little fish around to see what we could come up with.

We went to the holiday hypermarket website and couldn’t find anything there except a couple of posts which were five or six years old about British tourists who were hoarding their currency when they arrived back home and the cost of the euro.

Then we decided to go straight to Google and see what we could come up with.

Again, we came up blank when we typed in anything to do with holiday hypermarket and exchange rates.

So, we thought we’d do a short post about finding the best exchange rates that you can.

Use Your Credit Cards and ATM Cards

But the best ways of finding the best interbank exchange rates is to use your ATM cash in the country that you are visiting, or your credit card for that matter.

Using your credit card to pay for services such as car hire or your hotel bill is always going to incur charges for transactions which are made in a foreign currency.

There are very few credit card companies that do not charge for this … you need to check this out with your own credit card company before you leave.

The same goes with using your ATM card abroad.

Most banks will charge a fee for withdrawing foreign currency abroad, a lot of time this fee is a flat fee so you are better off trying to take out the maximum amount of cash at one time to avoid incurring multiple charges … if you feel comfortable with this.

Exchanging Cash or Travellers Cheques

If you need to exchange cash or Travellers cheques it is recommended that you go through reputable banks or post offices which are run by the host nation’s government.

Always ask for the net rate after any commissions have been added on.

Just Use Your Home Currency

Many countries will accept US dollars the same way as the local currency, although you may not get the best rates.

The euro is also widely accepted throughout the European Union, check to see whether the destination country is one of those.

Finally, if you come up with any information about holiday hypermarket exchange rate, please let us know.
