The Duchy of Cornwall consists of a series of lands owned by the British Royal Family. It is one of two Royal duchies located in England, owned and managed by the eldest son of the monarchy. The main purpose of this area is to raise funds for any public, private or charitable activities planned by the monarchy. Duchy of Cornwall cottages in particular are of a high quality, commended locally by various groups and organizations. Travelers are rest assured that there is one to fit their budget and need. Cottages here can accommodate as few as two people to as many as 18 guests in some cases. Built in facilities can influence the final price. Some cottages may include an indoor pool, game room or even tennis courts. Expect to find some cottages fitted with cable televisions, Internet access and telephones. These and other forms of entertainment are essential especially when travelling with younger children that get bored and unruly easily. When selecting Cornwall cottages, pets can also make a difference in the choice. A large number of cottages may not allow pets inside the premises.
When looking for Cornwall cottages under the Duchy, there are numerous areas where travelers can start looking. By the north, Cornwall cottages are plenty in the region of Newquay. There is the Harris Cottage, No. 1 and No. 2 Gustivean Cottages and the Trewollack House. Each has its own features to cater distinct needs.
Harris Cottage is a simpler residence which has been renovated to accommodate two to four people. There is only one bedroom but cots are available for additional sleeping areas. Near the Harris Cottage is the Trewollack House. This particular residence is inspired by the Georgian style and can accommodate 8 to 10 people. Surrounding the residence is an immense expanse of farmland which can be viewed from the house. The Gustivean cottages have been restored to reveal the original design of the interior and structure. No. 1 accommodates up to six people while No. 2 can accommodate more, up to eight people at one time.
There are also cottages available along the west. Cornwall cottages can be found near Truro, in Ladock. One is known as the Trendeal Barn. This particular Duchy cottage used to function as a barn. The surrounding areas are still preserved as farmland, giving travelers who stay here a great view of the local countryside. For the more adventurous, there are also trails leading to the woodlands located nearby.
