Are Late Deal Holidays Worth the Bother? If You Can’t Afford Any Better Then Maybe So!

When the holiday time of year comes around there are several different ways of going about things. One of the biggest differences is that while some people like to book well in advance others prefer to wait and look for a last minute bargains. Let’s look at some of the factors to see if late deal holidays are a good choice.

Advantages

  1. The cost. Clearly the biggest benefit with a holidays late deal is that you would expect to pay a lower price for it. Booking well in advance also gets you a discount on many trips[1]but the last minute offer is likely to be better.
  2. The excitement. With late holidays deals everything can seem more exciting and nerve racking, as you wait to find out where you will be going to.
  3. No let down after a big build up. Sometimes the things we most look forward are the ones which most let us down, aren’t they? Waiting a full year for your annual break can occasionally lead to disappointment. This can be due to the fact that you aren’t really that bothered about the trip by the time it comes around. With late deals holidays are booked when you are keen and ready to go.

Disadvantages

  1. A lack of flexibility. When you book well in advance you will have the travel company’s full selection of destinations and accommodation to choose from. Holding off until the last minute is going to severely reduce your options and you may even get one of those deals whereby you don’t where you are going to be staying until you get there.
  2. The risk. There is going to be a possibility that you don’t find any holidays late deal to suit you and end up not going anywhere.  This is unlikely to happen unless you are quite fussy about where you go but it is something which has to be taken into account. Having a plan B, such a local holiday, lined up makes sense.
  3. No build up. We mentioned earlier that the build up to a trip can go flat. Having said that, some people find that the lack of a build up takes something away from late deal holidays. If you enjoy the anticipation almost as much as the break itself then you might find that the late holidays deal comes and goes a little too quickly for you.
