This is the main factor which tends to put people off, as we still usually consider this as the luxury type of holiday it once was. This is no longer really the case. The first point to make here is that on a big cruise ship you won’t really have the sensation of being at sea at all. If memories of a dodgy trip on a ferry or small boat are holding you back then this will be a completely different experience. On the other hand, if your ideas on cruises are based on films and such like you may be disappointed at the lack of luxury. Many modern cruises all inclusive deals are the equivalent of a good quality stay in an all inclusive hotel with a wide range of facilities. If you look at them this way it might help you see whether it is the kind of thing you might like.

There are lots of different journey types to choose from. Some give you plenty of time in one place while others will see you hopping from one destination to another fairly quickly. It is worth taking your time and working out which of these approaches is right for you, as picking the wrong one can lead to an unsatisfactory experience.
Things to do
If you are an active person you might be worried about being cooped up in a cabin all day. This is an understandable concern but one which can be relieved with a bit of investigation. The vast majority of the big, modern cruise shops now offer lots of things to do. From exercise rooms to theatres to swimming pool and themed nights, you will more than likely find that there is too much for you to do.
