When you have a pet it’s great to be at them away on vacation with you.
There’s nothing worse than having to leave your “best mates” at a dog kennel while you head away for a couple of weeks relaxation.
Going on a caravan or camping holiday is one of the best ways of taking your vacation and being able to bring your pet along with you.
We had a request for information about pet friendly caravan parks Victoria, Australia and decided to take a look.
There are a few different definitions of pet friendly from “you are allowed to take your dog with you but must be kept on a leash at all times“, to “your pets are very welcome here and we have areas and services specifically designed for them“.
Here are 3 different pet friendly caravan parks in Victoria, Australia
Best Friend Holiday Retreat
The best friend holiday retreat[i] is located in Tarra Valley Rainforest, S E Gippsland, Victoria and is a multi-award-winning, truly dog friendly holiday destination, and one of the most pet friendly that we have come across.
We’ll start with the park features which include 10 acres of gardens and parkland, a waterfall and natural rock pool, an open aviary containing rainforest birds, and even their own resident Koala bears.
The pet friendly features include a dog playground, fenced off areas where you can let your dog off his leash, Hydrobath hut, day use dog kennels, and your dogs can sleep inside the cabins with you.
You are 25 minutes’ drive from the beach, 3 km from Tarra Bulga National Park, and 2.5 hours east of Melbourne.
Goughs Bay Caravan Park
Goughs Bay Caravan Park[ii] is located on Lake Eildon, about 30 minutes’ drive from Mount Buller.
Pets are great welcome here so long as they are kept under control although they are not allowed into any of the cabins or amenities buildings.
There are several different sizes of caravan and cabin available along with camping areas that you can rent including a standard caravan or deluxe caravan, or 6 to 8 berth cabin.
The amenities here include laundry facilities, a children’s play area with a cubby house for the small ones, Fire drums and barbecues, and a takeaway food outlet which is open seven days per week.
Lake Anderson Caravan Park
Lake Anderson Caravan Park[iii] is another dog friendly holiday destination based on the shores of Lake Anderson, and less than 1 km from the Hume Highway.
This park offers both caravanning and camping facilities.
They also have self-contained cabins for rent which include a large living area, bedroom, TV and DVD, air conditioning and ceiling fan.
The facilities include sheltered all weather barbecue area which can be used free of charge, shower and toilet block, 24 hour laundry with coin-operated washing machines and dryers, recreation room with comfortable lounges and TV, with an open fire for those cooler evenings.
You can bring your pets with you but they must be kept under supervision at all times.
